Quick & Easy Christmas PJ Pants

I absolutely love our holiday traditions. Every year I give at least one handmade item to my daughter.  I recently came across a super easy PJ pants tutorial.  I was getting down to the wire time wise so I really wanted something that was simple and wouldn't take too much time.

Although we typically always open all of our gifts on Christmas day I wanted to start a new tradition of opening one gift from the heart on Christmas Eve.  I also decided to give them to my daughter on Christmas Eve so she had special Christmas PJ Pants.  She always needs new PJ's and I thought ones with a holiday theme would suit her just perfect.

I chose to use some Winter Hats Red from the Penquin Pals collection by Sara Khammesh for Moda.  It is simply adorable.  I love the little stars on the winter hats.

I found the tutorial on Pinterest but here is a direct link to My Cotton Creations for the complete tutorial.

As stated in the tutorial, I used a pair of PJ pants I knew where a perfect fit and then added an inch to the length to guarantee some wear.

I love the way they came out and it took less than a half hour to complete.  If you need a quick gift for anyone check out Nancy's tutorial.

I can't wait until tomorrow night to give them to her.  I will add a photo of her wearing them!

Little Apples by Aneela Hoey for our new addition

We recently had a new addition to our family.  Our third baby niece was born just before Thanksgiving.  They live a state away and we are seeing them at Christmas. We tossed around the idea of what to get her as our little welcome to the world gift.  For our other niece we had made a step stool but we weren't able to do that this time. I naturally said how perfect a quilt would be.

I really wanted to make a quilt using fabric that will grow with her and since her parents are big OSU fans, I decided to use Little Apples by Aneela Hoey.  The color combination just seemed to be perfect.

This fabric is like a day at the park.  There are children singing, dancing and playing.  There are happy animals prancing about.  And of course there are trees and apples.

The colors, red, olive green, turquoise blue, gray and white, blend and coordinate nicely together.

Since, of course, it was getting down to the wire as far as getting it going and having it completed before Christmas, I choose to use a combination of pre-cut fabric and yardage.

I grabbed a jelly roll and just started sewing away.  I added a long 6" horizontal strip to the top of the vertical ones to even everything out.  I also decided attach a pillow size quilt and add it to the backing so the quilt could be turned into pillow as well.

Quillow's have  always my favorite.  You have a place to keep your feet warm and you can easily fold it neatly into a pillow for storing or resting your head.

I was super happy with the way it turned out.  Quilt are blankets of love so I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Mystique Collection by Lila Tueller for Riley Blake

We are thrilled to have received our shipment of new Riley Blake.  I am absolutely in love with the Mystique collection!  It is designed by Lila Tueller and is sophisticated with classic blends of black, gray and bright white.  With a neutral color palette you can use this fabric for so much more than quilts.

I am loving the Evening Gown Quilt which is available for purchase as a Quilt Kit.  It is just so classy and if you want you can give it a pop of color by using your imagination and making the flowers a bright color and then coordinate the backing with one of the same bright colors.  This design is one that will never go out of style.  I am thinking, after the new year of course, we should do a quilt along with this pattern to see what beautiful designs everyone can come up with.

Metro Purse made by Lila Tueller
Have you seen any of the clothing that was on display at the Quilt Market?  I most recently came across an adorable metro purse made by Lila Tueller using Main Black Yardage and Stripe Black. Another cute design was a puff sleeve blouse made with the Dot Gray Yardage. With this versatile fabric the possibilities of what you can create are so endless.

Make a simple wrap skirt from any of the collection and you have the perfect selection for a holiday party paired with a red blouse or keep it black and white and go with brightly colored pumps.

Here is a video showcasing everything we are carrying in the collection.  You can also view it on the website by clicking here.
