I would have to say Layer Cakes and FQ bundles are my favorite ways to buy fabric. Thanks for the great giveaway, I would LOVE to make that quilt!

More recently I've been buying by the fat quarter bundle, but usually only at 30% to 50% off.
I don't know yet how I really like to buy it. I've used yardage and a layer cake. I have a charm pack waiting for the right match.

If I can I will use Layercake, Jelly roll or charm packs first as I hate cutting, it means I can get on to the nice part of sewing quicker! But obviously need the yardage too for the borders

I am a butterfly nut so I would LOVE to win this kit. I'm already a follower.
I love them all! But although I use smaller precuts, I think bundles are the best because you have a bit more fabric to work with & it all matches! Good luck with your new store.

1) I already "like" you :-) That's how I ended up here today.
2) When i buy fabric, I tend to buy cuts off the bolt. However, I recently bought a "cinnamon roll" on sale and liked it except that the colors in that particular one were not just coordinated but all the same and so were "too much" for the project I was working on. I liked the pre-cut strip idea though. I think I got a jelly roll of batiks once too but used them all up. Generally, I tell myself these precut sets are more expensive than just buying what I want in the quantities I want but, then the strip cuts are already done, saving me time which has a value too ... so the jelly rolls sort of make sense. charm packs don't make sense to me, cost-value-wise. but fat quarter packs make sense ... lots of sense to me. did any of that make sense?

I am just picking out my first quilt - so haven't bought anything besides by the yard yet for my other sewing projects. But I would like to make a quilt with Jelly Rolls - as I've seen some awesome patterns.
I like by the yard as I often change my mind about what I am going to use it for.

I guess I'm old school and like to buy by the yard, and then fat qtr bundle is my next in line. Perhaps being a newbie quilter, I have more experience with the large chunky sizes than the other precuts. Right now, for me, the smaller the cut, the harder it is to wrap my head around choosing a quilt project. NOW with that said, there are some great jelly roll patterns that make my head rotate like an owl's! hehehe

I usually buy fabric as I like it in 2 yard pieces and store in in my stash. Every now and then I decide on something special and buy for a specific quilt and then I usually buy way more than I need and store the left overs in my stash. Don't you just love the stash.
I buy fabric most any way it is sold! LOL
...but my FAVorite way is in a kit. Especially one that has a pattern that can be bought in a variety of color choice.
Jelly Rolls also are great but I find that sometimes the 'fold' on the strip has a bit of a "bend". That makes a BIG difference when using the full strip length.
Everyone in my Guild has a minimum "2 yards for the stash" as well. ;0)

Hi there! I buy fabric by the yard. I love fabric!!! Then pick and choose as I go. That is a big part of the fun for me. Picking the colors etc. Thanks for asking and what a beautiful quilt. I would love to have a try at it.
AT this time, I buy by the yard; just picking fabrics I like and putting them to use right away or in the stash for a future project. But one of these days, I WILL buy a bundle and have a coordinated quilt like they show online...they are sooo pretty! Would ease some of the woes of trying to pick fabrics from different lines....
