Sorry this took a bit longer to post. I have a VERY special surprise in store for everyone but, you will have to wait until tomorrow or later tonight to learn more.
So let me get on with the good news of the day!
One of my favorite quilt bloggers is PS I Quilt Rachel Griffith. Her work inspires me to make beautiful quilts!
Today I learned about a special post she wrote yesterday called, "Just One Star."
You see, Moda wants to quilt and bind 100 quilts in 100 days for soldiers and they need our help!
They need us to make a star block, sign it, and send it to Moda. Here are the complete instructions for the Just One Star Challenge.
So simple.
The Semper Fi Fund is coordinating donations and as the daughter of a retired Marine, I knew that we had to do something special here at 1 Choice to get more people involved.
We can make a difference together.
So here is the deal -
10 Yards of Sunkissed by Moda. You can choose 1 yard of each fabric, 10 yards of 1 fabric, or a little bit of both.
I know what you are thinking? Is she crazy?
YES!
I am crazy about helping people. I am crazy about sharing the love. I am crazy about giving back. I know you all are in love with Sunkissed!
So let's give back together.
OH OH OH OH
ANDDDDDDDDDDDD
Please please please share the word about this giveaway because....
As soon as we reach 1,000 fans on Facebook, we are giving away this super sweet little bundle to one of our Facebook Fans!

Two blocks off. DH is out of North Carolina and a really big military community there. So in honour of them I'm sending some off. http://www.flickr.com/photos/caraquilts/5529598109/
I have added my two stars to flickr that are going out in tomorrow's mail. I had been waiting on my brown pigma pen to arrive and UPS finally dropped it off today!

I ran over here to check out who won the giveaway and to offer my congrats and OMGosh it was me that won. I am beyond excited, my hubby says "nuts" but we know better then that ;) Thank you Thank you and I promise it will be something BE-U-TEE-FUL when I am done. OMy who do I call first?? Thank you again, so very much!
I just love this project! I made 3 blocks last week when Moda posted it, and I hope to make a few more before taking them to the post office on Friday. Thanks for supporting this fabulous project!

I'm not perfect but I've done the best I can ^_^
I announced about Just One Star last week at my quilt guild (TLC Quilters in Covina, CA) and our philanthropy chair person is going to work on getting the word out as well.
I'll be working on my stars this weekend.
I made a star to represent family currently in the service (nephew just deployed to Iraq and nephew-in-law who did 2 tours) I also posted on by blog about the project.

This is the first time that I've done a redirect to flickr, so hope this works. My mother "loaned" me some fabric and this is the first star block I've ever made. I call it One Star Red. Please enter me into the draw. Thanks for sharing this block drive -- my next task is driving to the county seat and mailing it (their hours are very reduced with the USPS cut backs).

Here's a start with my favorite blue fabric. I'm sending it tomorrow along with 10 others that 5 of us made at our LQS sew down last night. Wish I had taken a pic of the pile of scraps we brought to choose from.
I finished my block and it's going out in the mail tomorrow. I posted about it on my blog and here's a link to flickr.

I finished one block and hope to do more, but tonight could only get one done.

blogged about it too, hope others do it!

This is the only one I've finished, have fabric ready to make a few more this week.
My brother is a soldier, so glad to be able to help our men & women in uniform!!

Well, I didn't get my star blocks done but that is okay because I will. It has been a busy, worrying, tiring 3 days for me and my pal Maverick. He blazed through surgery like a trooper but became very shy and wouldn't let us pick him up until he was ready. He spent most of his time under my bed, laying on top of me, in my lap, around my neck or under the bed. He is fine.... Shawna, my package of 8 1/2 yds of Sunkissed arrived today and it is your fault that I didn't get my sewing room back in half decent order. I have fondly fondled the fabric until I am sure if fabric could beg for mercy it would be. Thank you for such a very nice win. I will be sharing what I am making and pics to go along the way. Here it is, the first star block I've ever made. http://www.flickr.com/photos/maureenmate/5549247660/
I need to find my pigma pen and sign it. I have enough red to make a few more, then I'll post them on Wednesday. I chose red because these ones are from a Canadian.

I left a comment over at p.s. i quilt's blog, was I supposed to leave one here instead?
I am a part of a quilting bee - we got together and made 9 stars last week - It was fun picking out the fabric and learning each others techniques. But most importantly it was a very rewarding project to do knowing where the finished quilts are going to go.
1 entry for Mary Jane who sent off 2 stars to Dallas :)
