I hope you are ready for our next giveaway because I most definitely am!
Although I have to apologize to our newsletter subscribers because I told them this post would be up last night. However, when I crawled my way into bed to write the post.... Mike offered up cuddling and a movie. I couldn't resist and I had to say YES!
So to make it up to you all... I just added twice the winners :))
By the way, our last giveaway you gave us so much feedback that we appreciate more than you know and we are already putting many of your thoughts into actions. More on that later!
So what are we giving away today??
Well....
I had a hard time deciding because everything we have gotten in lately is SO pretty but, I couldn't resist this one collection.
Strawberry Fields
I am completely in love with this collection and based on your feedback, we know you are too.
So we are giving away a super beautiful Fat Quarter Bundle of 16 gorgeous Strawberry Fields fabrics to...
Plus...
We are going to give you 2 yards of matching Bella Solids for you to use for sashing or binding or whatever you want.
You will get to choose between Fig Tree Cream, Fig Tree Olive, and Fig Tree Wheat.
Yummy!
Oh and since 4 is just such a strange number...let's do this:
We love and appreciate our bloggers who help us spread the word about our giveaways!
We have these GORGEOUS totes in our Moda Home Collection that are coated with vinyl so you can take them EVERYWHERE and one lucky blogger will get to pick out their favorite Moda Tote Bag.
You never know what you might find inside when it arrives....
Don't have a blog? It is time to start one and I am going to help you!!
Starting this week, I will be writing up some tutorials on showing you exactly how to start your own blog and what to blog about. It's time to share your quilts and fun with the world :)
You will have PLENTY of time to build it, play with it, share our giveaway, and come back and enter our special contest.
One last thing before we go, if you need a fabric fix... check out our store this weekend.
Alright everyone here are your 5 changes to win and good luck!!
1. Please leave your first comment by telling us... When did you first start sewing or quilting? Feel free to tell a story. I love reading your comments!
2. If you decide to follow our blog (left column under what's new) or you already do follow us, leave us another comment letting us know you have.
3. If you decide to Follow us on Twitter or you already do, leave us another comment letting us know you have. We would love it if you would retweet our giveaway too :) That would be AWESOME!!
4. If you decide to head over to our Facebook page and click on the Like Button (OR use the toolbar below). Then leave us another comment letting us know you did!
5. If you decide to blog about our giveaway and tell all of your friends, please leave us a comment letting us know you did with the URL of your blog post. We REALLY appreciate our bloggers AND you will be entered into our special drawing!!

I follow your blog! Thanks.
I follow you on Twitter!
I also follow you on Facebook;)
I started sewing when I was really young- sitting at my mom's feet while she made me dresses. In elementary school, a trip to a pioneer village sparked my love of quilting. I made patchwork bags during college, along with curtains and pillows and anything else my straight-stitch only machine would do. The first birthday my husband an I were married, he bought me an amazing new sewing machine- now that's love!
I started sewing when i was 10 years old. Mom made me, she said a girl had to know these things. I hated it. Had to sew babyclothes and clothes for my dolls to learn. Until i got an allowance to buy my own clothes since mom and i were always fighting about what i should and shouldnt wear. I discovered that i could sew clothes that cost heaps in the stores for really cheap. And it saved me huge ammounts when i was in highschool. Now with the quilting sewing is actually fun! Go mom!

I started sewing when I was in middle school. After my son was born I really got into sewing clothes for him. I remember that he wanted to carebear costume for Halloween, which I proceeded to make for him and it turned out wonderfully. I would sew only when I wanted some new curtains or other home deco items. About a year ago I started teaching my self how to quilt. I now go to my local quilt shop for the block of the month. I'm hooked an can't get enough, so I have turned to the internet to do quilt alongs. I having a great time.

I started doing hand embroidery at the age of 6. My greatgrandma and grandma taught me. My greatgrandma was blind and would talk me through everything while my grandma checked to see if I was doing it properly. Many years later, I learned to quilt just to make a sample that I saw in the first quilt shop I ever entered. 5 years later and I am still hooked!
Ahh was having trouble posting so will post this again....started sewing when about 9 yrs old at a elderly ladies place around the corner from home using a treadle sewing machine and making barbie clothes. Same lady even taught me how to knit.
I have been sewing since middle school home ec classes. I made lots of my own clothes while in my twenties, then sewed for my three daughters. I waited until retirement to start quilting!!

I started sewing when I was 8 on Mum's Necchi sewing machine with all those bobbins that gave you fancy embroidery stitches. It weighed a 'ton' but was almost permanently on the sewing table as I never would have been able to lift it. I didn't begin quilting until about 4 years ago and I have a Janome QC6019 which I love.
I'm a follower now as I'm not much of a blogger and I could do with any help available, lol.
I 'liked' you on FaceBook!
I taught myself to sew when I was 12. My mom told me it was too hard and I wasn't smart enough....so I learned how just to prove I could.
I'm subscribing to you - thanks.
I have been a subscriber to your blog! :o) Thanks for the giveaway! I LOVE Strawberry Fields, and can't wait to sew something pretty!
Well, I started to pretend sew back in January of 2009. LOL Fast forward to 2011, and I started quilting (gave up on reading patterns to sew pajamas and such). I finished my first rag quilt in January of this year, and haven't turned back. :o) Now that we live back near my MIL, she and I get together and sew and quilt, and I have gone to a paper piecing class with her. Sewing is my therapy! :o)
I don't remember when I started sewing but have been sewing for as long as I can remember and believe it is in my genes. My grandmother was a seamstress for one of the little girl factories in upstate New York and sewed all my clothes. Her personal sewing machine was a Singer - some kind treadle with the knee. I could hardly walk and chew gum under normal circumstances and trying to sew on that was impossible. I still remember her telling me that this was the only way one could ever learn to sew. Thank goodness my mother found the Sears store with the 'new fangled electric sewing machine'. Yes, my mother sewed, too. I didn't have to sew my clothes as they did all that. I didn't sew doll clothes - never got into that. I was the tomboy in the family. After I left home and started working (during the 'hippy' years) the sewing bug really hit me and then I started sewing all my clothes. I also made drapes for our living room which I think paid for the new sewing machine I purchased - a Brother that had a couple of fancy stitches AND did buttonholes which was really exciting in those days. Since then, in addition to my own clothes (loved Vogue and Butterick patterns), I made a wedding dress for a dear friend and have been sewing off and on since then - more so in the last 10 or so years. The internet is a marvelous tool in this industry. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

I started sewing when I was 10 years old and begged my mother to let me sew some Barbie doll clothes. Then came clothes for me that same year. I made most of my clothes all through high school. I made my first quilt in my early 20's and I have rarely sewn anything since for the last 30 years! Love, love LOVE to make quilts!
I started sewing with my grandma when I was about 7 or 8. She made the square block quilts made out of anything fabric(old dish towels, old clothes, etc) and hand tied each block.

My mom and my aunt sewed a lot and I remember sitting at my mom's sewing machine and making blankets for my dolls when I was a little girl. Then when I was in high school I had a sewing class, didn't really learn a lot there. When my husband and I got married 16 years ago I mentioned to him that I would love to be able to sew some stuff for our apartment. That Christmas he bought me a sewing machine. Well life got busy and I didn't use it for a long time. Then I started making burp cloths with my mom. We moved a few times and the machine was packed away. Now the sewing bug has hit me again, and my 11 year old daughter wants to sew too. I also have wanted to try quilting. Thanks for a wonderful giveaway.
I am now following your blog.
I first learned to sew when I was pregnant with my daughter. I wanted to make something for the baby that would be useful and personal.

Yia Yia Barbie...My father taught me to embroider, which led to pillowcases when I was 7 years old, very appropo for this holiday tomorrow! Then I took every home ec class from 8th grade to my senior year. I made almost everything I wore outside of shoe, undies, and jeans! When I was pregnant with my first child I decided to make a quilt, Hollie Hobbie or something like that was my fabric line used, I started with the center block, sewed another block to the side, and then one on the other side, one to the top, and one to the bottom....uh-oh! How do you get the corners in? Needless to say when I tell people that 1st quilt went to the dog, I mean it! I finally figured out rows, took a class in Saline, Michigan on Log Cabins, learning how to use "new" Gingher shears proven to cut straight through several layers...then after a wedding quilt for my sister, several quilts for the kids, etc. and all of them Log Cabins I knew I had to branch out or quit, cuz it was getting boring.
I then had moved to Tennessee and found classes in Columbia, TN with Karen Combs and the rest is history. I mainly design my own quilts using new tools that intrigue me or old standards like Tri Recs (54/40 or Fight being my favorite standby.
Hoffman Challenges have been my creative outlet for many years.
...and currently I am spurred on by the Race Day pattern and how I can re-invent it over and over!

My mother tells me that my first venture with quilting was about age 5. She was making a quilt and I wanted to sew too. She gave me a thread and yarn, and set me down to stitch on a corner of a quilt she was making. I began making clothes at about age eight - 4-H. Thanks for the lovely fabric giveaway chance.
I started sewing on my grandmother's 80 year old machine when I graduated from college with one baby and one on the way. The tension never was quite right on that machine, but it was a fine beginning for a self-taught stitcher.

I took a sewing class my sophomore year of high school (6 years ago) and enjoyed it - but not enough to make it a lifelong hobby. Then, last year, I wanted to send my high school t shirts away to make a quilt, but I found that they cost anywhere from 300-500 dollars, and I did not have that kind of money. I started getting this crazy idea that I could just make the quilt myself. I borrowed my future mother-in-law's sewing machine and re-learned how to sew (though I did remember how to wind a bobbin :) ). All in all, I got hooked, and now I'm making my 6th (or 7th?) quilt!

It was kinda ugly cause I didn't knew how to sew properly then and maybe that's why I didn't sew till after that. That is when I'm older and can do things better.

Sewing has been a part of my life for 45 years or sew, started when I was about 10. Started at school grade 4 or 5 we did sewing classes and I have had a love affair with fabric ever since.
When my youngest went to school I went to TAFE and did a Womens Clothing Assembly certificate - by this time I was making my girls clothes and wanted them to look more professional. At that time mid nineties our state government started taking the courses out of TAFE so my local college offered extra classes for those who wanted to do patchwork, decorator crafts, needlework skills. I took the opportunity and haven't looked back. The top I made in those classes sat for a couple of years waiting to learn how to sandwich it into a quilt. Now I am making quilts for my grand children, and blocks for quilting bees and block swaps the more the merrier.

I started quilting about two years ago. It was only by chance that I discover quilting, I went to a local fabric shop to buy some wool and they were having a quilting class at that right moment. It immediately caught my attention and the following week there I was ready for my first quilting lesson.I got addicted, I love quilting, stitching and never stopped ever since.

I don't know when I first learnt to sew, my mother taught me from a young age, but I do know that I was 12 when I made my first garment all by myself.
My first quilt wasn't till much later, three and a half years ago and I cringe at some of the things I did back then not knowing what I know now!

Well, I started sewing a reversible tote when the place I am staying banned the used of plastic bag. I am looking for a bag and my mom suggest me to sew one instead of buying. That's where I am started to sew. I still remember I am using my mom's sewing machine until I have a budget to buy one for myself :D.. Then, I sew some simple dress or clothes for myself until recently I love to sew bags, pencil case, wrislet and quilt. There are so many blogs sharing a very good tutorials on all the project.. My first sewing experience was a class in jr. high. That didn't go so well. Next try was making pj's for my two young sons. That was okay but what I wanted to do was quilt. Fast forward fifteen years to 2010. A good friend who quilts encouraged me to try and helped me with my first project. I am now obsessed and want to make all sorts of gorgeous quilts I see on-line. I have more to learn before I can attempt most of them but I am trying. Next up is getting half square triangles right. Wish me luck! jmniffer
I only started sewing last October, and quilting just last week but I'm addicted. I just had a urge to make things and so I got my mum to teach me how to use a sewing machine. I haven't looked back!

I first started quilting when we were living waaaaaaay out in the country. Just me and the kids all day long.. oh and lets not forget the cows across the street to look at. YAY! I needed something to keep my occupied and sane all day. My first venture into quilting had no assistance and guidance and so it didn't really turn out as well as I had hoped. I came back to it several years later.. with much better results.

I can't even remember when I started sewing! I took sewing in 8th grade, but I know I had already been sewing for a quite a while before that. I used to love making clothes...but not so much anymore! I would rather make a quilt or tote bags or something useful for around the house!

I learned to sew on an old treadle machine about 60 years ago. I began by making dolls clothes, progressed to my own clothes, then clothes for my children, and later my grandchildren. I began quilting many years ago, and then became too busy, but now am happily quilting again, making quilts for children as they come into foster care.
I just found your blog... I started sewing in my preteens.. My mother made my twin sister and I all our clothes,, I learned to sew and loved it... started quilting after I got married.

I made my first quilt when I was in highschool in a home ec class. I liked making that quilt so much, I made another one on my own. We lived on a farm and it was hard to get into the city to get fabric so my quilting hobby went on hold. Instead of quilting I used to take apart my mothers old clothing and make it into new items that I could wear. I then went to college, taking art and design, I majored in painting and ceramics and focused on that mainly for a few years. I had made after I moved out on my own a few quilts over the years, but only in this past couple have I fully come back to this being my passion, main hobby and art.

My Mom got me sewing when I was maybe 5 or so, but I was better at paper doll clothes than real stuff for a very long time! In the mid-90's I started making embellished vests. Which somehow turned into quilting instead. Now that's all I love to do, I hate to sew regular stuff, especially darning and hemming -- YUK!
I'm a new Follower, love your blog! (And I'd love me some Strawberry Fields :-)
What a wonderful give-away, Shawna! I love love love this new Strawberry Fields collection and must try to win some! I have been sewing since early childhood, but only got into quilting 9 years ago. A friend talked me into taking a class with her and I was totally hooked on it before the first class was done! Since I am retired, I am very lucky to get to spend a lot of time quilting! I have made over 100 quilts so far and an Etsy store where I sell a few just for fun. I blog about my quilting habit also ... partly for fun and partly as an on-line journal of them.

My first experiment in sewing was when I was about 13. Saved to buy my first machine [Vintage Singer with shuttle bobbin], from my babysitting money. First attempt was a dress [what a disaster it was...lol]. First quilt wasn't until about 3 years ago. Now I won't go back to sewing clothes [sorry, grandkids, but on the brighter side, quilts are in your future.]

I use to make stuff for the house all the time, curtains, table skirts, clothes for the girls etc.....Then one time when I made some curtains for the master bedroom, and then some table skirts, and toppers for those lil round $2.99 tables you get at wally world, I thought.......I should make a nice "blanket" to match, hubby agreed that would look nice. So the next time we went into JoAnn's I started looking at the books they had and seen one almost right away that had a nice Quilt as you go Log Cabin on the front. The fabric I was using in the master bedroom would look perfect, almost like the cover. So I went and grabbed all 3 bolts that there was of that fabric, and told the clerk I wanted whatever was there. Bought the book and all that fabric something like 30 yards. Didn't want to run out half way through making this "blanket" now did I? Went home read the book from front to back several times to figure out how much more fabric I needed in other colors to coordinate with the 30 yards or so I had already of the main fabric. Went back and bought what I needed for that. My husband also wanted me to make sure it was going to be warm, so I bought the thickest polyester batting they had, it was THICK too. Within a few days, I had the king size QUILT all sewn together, with LOTS of fabric to spare, extra blocks to boot. Then I started drawing out a border. Got the whole border pieced together in a chain link kinda pattern. Forgot I had added an extra row onto the quilt top as an after thought, so the border only fit top and bottom, the sides were both too short. Took it back to the drawing board to figure out how to fix it. A month later had it all done and ready to be sewn on. Then my mother moved south and in with us, everything got packed away. A few years later when we moved, I found the quilt, but couldn't find the border. As time went by, found the border couldn't find the quilt, back and forth it went, Dear hubby would ask, "you ever going to finish MY quilt??" It became the family joke whenever I wanted to buy more fabric. Then I finally found both the quilt and borders and hurriedly sewed them together. Then couldn't find the binding that was already cut and pressed and rolled up waiting. Years later............15 actually from the time it got started, I found all the pieces and got it bound, washed and put on the bed in time for our 22nd Anniversary. My hubby puts that quilt on our bed the most, when making it. I look at it now, and kinda cringe.......I have learned a lot since I first made that quilt. I will make another one similar to it someday, but it will look 100% better and not be 2 inches thick either!!!
I started sewing my own clothes when I was 12 - up until then, my mom had sewn all of my clothes, but with 4 girls to sew for, she had her hands full! Thankfully, my 2 brothers wore out clothes so quickly that it didn't make sense to sew for them - their clothes were often hand-me-downs from boy cousins.
I didn't start quilting until about 6 or 7 years ago - and I haven't looked back since!
I just signed up to follow your blog! It's funny, because I just recently found your store, and I ordered a jelly roll. I didn't realize then that there was a blog too! Now I'll be checking in everyday to see what you're up to...

I did sew some clothing during high school and then stopped - until my friend got me started with quilting around 2004 or 2005. Didn't get too serious at first, but use it now as stress relief from my day job. Started a quilting blog in Sept 2009 for better accountability, keeping track of projects and because I was so impressed with all the online talent. Thanks so much for yet another generous giveaway!

when did i first start sewing/quilting? i started learning hand-embroidery stitches at my mother's knee when i was 7yo. i started learning my way around a sewing machine when i was in high school. when counted cross-stitch became the rage back in the early 1980's, i was there. i got into dress-sewing serious-like when i had my first daughter. i did not discover quilting until about 5 years ago. my mother had just passed away and i was searching for something to fill the void. i love all my needle-arts, and quilting is my current passion! thank you for a wonderful site and blog! cindy in mississippi

I first started sewing when I was about five years old. In fact I still have the pot holder I made for my mother. I only started quilting fifty years later though. :)
I started sewing when I was 10 yrs old making a wedding dress for a porclein doll. I still have the dress and the doll. I have made mine, my daughters, and both daughter-in-laws wedding dresses. I made a grey pinstripe suit for my husband using the left over fabric to make my 1 yr old son a suit like his dad's. I use to sew around 3 items a week for my family. I started quilting 6 yts ago. I now sew for my grandkids with a grandaughter at 10 yrs loving to sew and design too.
I learnt to sew by fixing my teddy bear. He is still around 40 years later and huge dog stitches in coloured wool hold his arms and legs to his body. Poor old Smokey.

I started sewing as a little girl and even had my own little "toy" machine but was always jealous of my mom's grownup machine. (What I wouldn't do to have that case and machine now!!) As I grew older I made some of my own clothes but enjoyed making curtains and decorations. Now I have my own really grownup machine but still enjoy crafty sewing rather than making clothing.

My mom tried to teach me to sew as long as I can remember. Finally I wanted a new graduation dress and she said to me, you make it, it is time you learned. So just to prove to her I could do anything I set my mind too, i went to town, bought my fabric and pattern and headed home for the tedious chore of figuring out what to do. OMG it was a mess but mom just kept telling me "Fix It" so I sewed, I ripped, I sewed, I ripped and finally got the hang of what I was doing. Then it came time to put in the zipper and the sleeves, I studied the pieces, I read the instructions and I did what I thought was right and said I was done with it. Mom never knew that I heard her at night tsk tsking while ripping out my giganimous seams and fixing all the mess I had made. She never told, I never told her. I had a beautiful white on white dotted swiss dress that was as pretty as any of the fancy store bought ones the other girls wore. That summer before I went to work, mom thought she would try one more time and we made a quilt together. I sleep with that quilt on my bed. A nice memory of my mom and time we spent together.
My mom tried to teach me to sew many times as a child and I made a pillow in middle school home ec, but I never really decided to learn how to sew until last summer. When my mom was visiting us last July she talked me through a cute top. A couple months later my husband's aunt taught me how to quilt. From there I started searching the internet & have made some fabulous friends (Hi Shawna!) and have learned tons about sewing & quilting. I'm hooked! Now I just need to figure out a way to make some money off of my hobby. :)
I started quilting last August and now I'm hooked!

I sewed my first quilt the year we were married (31 years ago). I made it for my mom and then liked it so much made another for my sister that year. Quilting was then put aside for the next 25+ years to raise 4 children, and i just started again a couple of years ago.
I already follow your blog!
What a great giveaway, thank you. I first started sewing by making an apron at school. Never did finish it, and finished with sewing lessons that year too.
I am a loyal follower too.
My grandmother started me sewing when I was 5, she really wanted to teach my older sister but I was not going to be left out. My passion for quilting started about 2 years ago. It really surprised me how much I love it since I had met some quilt police years ago and decided it wasn't for me, rules and nastiness are not for me. The Internet and blogs really opened this world for me. I started seeing beautiful quilts and thinking "I can do that". Thank goodness for these wonderful blogs who share their knowledge without judgement.

I already "like" you on FB.
I'm the youngest of 3 girls in an all-girls family. We all learned to sew from my mother, on her Featherweight (sister 1 has it now and doesn't even use it!). By seventh grade when we finally got sewing class at school, I was ready to make my grad dress when the others were making aprons! I can picture the dress and fabric now. Come the class fashion show, with me on the runway, my mother overheard other mothers behind her say "there's no way she made that, her mother must have sewn it." Well, she turned around in her seat and let them have it! I don't think she'd ever been more proud of me.
