I hope you are ready for our next giveaway because I most definitely am!
Although I have to apologize to our newsletter subscribers because I told them this post would be up last night. However, when I crawled my way into bed to write the post.... Mike offered up cuddling and a movie. I couldn't resist and I had to say YES!
So to make it up to you all... I just added twice the winners :))
By the way, our last giveaway you gave us so much feedback that we appreciate more than you know and we are already putting many of your thoughts into actions. More on that later!
So what are we giving away today??
Well....
I had a hard time deciding because everything we have gotten in lately is SO pretty but, I couldn't resist this one collection.
Strawberry Fields
I am completely in love with this collection and based on your feedback, we know you are too.
So we are giving away a super beautiful Fat Quarter Bundle of 16 gorgeous Strawberry Fields fabrics to...
Plus...
We are going to give you 2 yards of matching Bella Solids for you to use for sashing or binding or whatever you want.
You will get to choose between Fig Tree Cream, Fig Tree Olive, and Fig Tree Wheat.
Yummy!
Oh and since 4 is just such a strange number...let's do this:
We love and appreciate our bloggers who help us spread the word about our giveaways!
We have these GORGEOUS totes in our Moda Home Collection that are coated with vinyl so you can take them EVERYWHERE and one lucky blogger will get to pick out their favorite Moda Tote Bag.
You never know what you might find inside when it arrives....
Don't have a blog? It is time to start one and I am going to help you!!
Starting this week, I will be writing up some tutorials on showing you exactly how to start your own blog and what to blog about. It's time to share your quilts and fun with the world :)
You will have PLENTY of time to build it, play with it, share our giveaway, and come back and enter our special contest.
One last thing before we go, if you need a fabric fix... check out our store this weekend.
Alright everyone here are your 5 changes to win and good luck!!
1. Please leave your first comment by telling us... When did you first start sewing or quilting? Feel free to tell a story. I love reading your comments!
2. If you decide to follow our blog (left column under what's new) or you already do follow us, leave us another comment letting us know you have.
3. If you decide to Follow us on Twitter or you already do, leave us another comment letting us know you have. We would love it if you would retweet our giveaway too :) That would be AWESOME!!

«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 600 of 663 Newer› Newest»
I'm the youngest of 3 girls in an all-girls family. We all learned to sew from my mother, on her Featherweight (sister 1 has it now and doesn't even use it!). By seventh grade when we finally got sewing class at school, I was ready to make my grad dress when the others were making aprons! I can picture the dress and fabric now. Come the class fashion show, with me on the runway, my mother overheard other mothers behind her say "there's no way she made that, her mother must have sewn it." Well, she turned around in her seat and let them have it! I don't think she'd ever been more proud of me.
I first started sewing around age 8 when I would hand sew clothes for my Barbie. Then I received my first little Singer machine for my 9th birthday and it was history from there - lol! I have only been quilting for about 8 years. Thanks for the opportunity to enter another fantastic giveaway!

My first sewing adventure was when I was about six, and my grandmother let me sit down at her machine (trusting lady) with some scraps of fabric to sew clothes for my baby doll! From then on it was "Katy bar the door" as I learned to sew clothes for me, then kept my kids in pajamas, shorts, shirts, and dresses, and even made costumes for the plays they were in! Now they are grown and quilting is my creative outlet and my joy, as I make quilts for babies at the crisis pregnancy center! Thanks for the chance to win!

I started sewing about 7 years ago. I wanted to sew some dresses and skirts for my daughter. I had a friend who showed me some very basic things and I took it from there. I have made many gifts and even tried to sell a few things on ebay. I prefer to allow for some imperfection and just enjoy sewing for pleasure.

I would rather talk about how I stared blogging. I started just like this: to post about giveaways I wanted to enter! It's been over a year later and I've done almost 80 posts. You don't have to be prolific, you don't have to post everyday, just whenever you feel like it! As I make more and more blogger friends and join more quilt alongs and more quilting games, the more I love to blog! It helps me get organized in my thinking, holds me accoutable in my quilting, and I meet cool bloggers!

I have been sewing for about 5 years now... however I have only been doing it in earnest for the last year or so.
What an AWESOME giveaway. Thanks so much. I already follow your blog.
I started sewing at the age of 10 - my mother was my teacher. I started quilting at the age of 57. I belong to a quilting group of 5 women - I am the youngest at 62. The others are 86,84,80 & 76! We get together every Tues. I have learned soooo much from them.

I started sewing before I can remember. Quilting I picked up in my 20s though :)
I started sewing when I had my firstborn baby girl. I loved making her dresses. I learned by myself with lots of help from a wonderful book - Readers Digest Complete Guide to Sewing or something like that. :)

I just blogged about your great giveaway: http://quiltyascharged.blogspot.com/2011/06/giveaway-at-1-choice-4-quilting_20.html
When I was somewhere between 2 and 3 years old, an elderly family friend let me 'help' her do some mending. My mother says she about lost it when this little old lady handed me a needle! But, she need not have worried, I never stuck myself or anyone else. Apparently I was hooked from that moment. My mother sewed most of my clothes for me, and she said I did lots of 'sewing' on the scraps for years. I have a vivid memory of learning to do some embroidery. I was 6 years old, and my mom did some of those iron on transfer patterns, and I learned to cross stitch, stem stitch, and french knot. By the time I was 11 or 12 I was using the sewing machine and making simple clothes for myself, and my stuffed animals. My first quilt was for dear old Teddy. I'm very thankful to that dear old lady. She started me on the road to a lifetime of joy!

I started sewing when I was pregnant with my daughter (she is 7 now). I was 8 months pregnant and decided I wanted to make her a baby quilt.
I don't really remember when I first started sewing - I have always enjoyed stitching - I remember hand stitching in high school - But as an adult I am eager to learn quilting !!!

I started sewing at school, when we were making cushions to sit on for story time. I remember it very well because i managed to sew it to my dress and spent half the afternoon carefully unpicking....
I think the first time was when my aunt was visiting and she helped me make a bag. I was about 8. I didn't do much sewing after that....a little bit from time to time. Now things are different. :)
I did take a Home Ec class in jr high but started sewing for quilts about 12 years ago.
I started sewing with my grandmother when I was about six. The first thing I remember making, though, was a dirndle skirt with blue and green fabric when I was in eighth grade home ec. I started quilting in 1972. I quilted and made my own clothes until about 1985. I then switched to weaving, needlepoint, and counted cross stitch. I didn't start quilting again until two years ago. Things have sure changed since I last started a quilt. When I started again, I still used the Bernina I bought in 1974. Just a few months ago, I got a new Bernina. What an amazing difference. I love quilting now with all the wonderful fabrics, and the amazing wealth of fantastic threads. I am so glad I found my way back.

I first started sewing when I was 6. I used to follow my mom around, wanting to help her do everything. I started begging to learn and she finally taught me. I haven't stopped since.
I first started sewing when I needed an elf cloak for halloween. No sewing machine, so I did the whole thing by hand. It was fun though, so then I asked for a sewing machine for christmas. :)

I started quilting in 2009 when my Grandmother taught me :) It was so special getting to learn from her.
I follow your blog :)
I remember that I would help my mom quilt when I was younger, but I really started sewing more when I got a sewing machine of my own when I was 9. My mom got me a sewing machine and fabric for Christmas and I sewed that puppy together so fast and we both quilted it together. it is still my favorite quilt!

I have been sewing for about 44 years when I took a home ec sewing class my first year of high school. My mother had always sewn (well, not much sewing, more patching and alterations I guess) and with 6 kids, she really didn't have the time or patience to teach me. I've only been quilting a few years.

I follow you on Twitter & also on Facebook! I began sewing when my girls were small, about 30 years ago, but got into quilting a few years ago & love it so much better than sewing clothes! My sister taught me how to quilt & I've been hooked ever since. It can be so addicting! I just sent my first king size quilt to the quilter which I designed myself. Can't wait to get it back & will try to post pics when I get it back.

I started sewing by hand when I was about 10 with my grandma. By this time she was retired to take care of my grandpa, who had Parkinson's, and her friends had encouraged her to take up quilting. My first quilt was a four patch with hand pieced blocks. We put the top together on the sewing machine and then Grandma quilted it for me. Before I was 15 I made another quilt, a double nine patch that Grandma also quilted for me. Then high school and college kept me busy and when I quit my job to try to start a family, all my coworkers asked what I was going to do. I told them I was going to make a quilt. So, I started out in 2005 doing 9 patch variations just like Grandma had taught me. Then, I found a quilt shop and learned to strip piece and now I am HOOKED, for good this time!
I am a very happy follower!

I started when I was about 10 learning handstitching and machine sewing when I was about 22 on my mother's singer. I got my first machine 3 yrs ago. I just sewed curtains and pillows to begin with but I recently started learning quilting, I love it. Thanks for sharing :)
I started sewing about three years ago. I made my first quilt about a year and a half ago. It was a rag quilt for my little sister. I was too intimidated to try "real" quilting. I actually loved the rag quilt. I made my first quilted/binded quilt about 2 months ago and I am hooked. I love sewing. It's my therapy :)

I started a little over 2 years ago when my sons third grade teacher did a quilting project with the class. I asked her for a few tips or if she knew of any classes in the area, she invited me to her house and helped me make a table runner. I have been hooked ever since.
I first started quilting last year while I was pregnant with my son. Nesting urges kicked in and I stuck with it. :)

My mom starting teaching me to sew, then when I was 9 she put me in 4-H to learn to sew "the right way". LOL Then as soon as I could take Home Ec. in Jr High, I took more sewing classes (not that I had ever stopped sewing)and even more Home Ec. in HS. On our first wedding anniversary my husband bought me my very own Singer sewing machine, I still have this machine 34 yrs later, but it has been replaced by a Pfaff a few yrs ago. Husband insisted on Pfaff because that was what his grandma used! :) I took my first quiltig class about 19 yrs ago, life got in the way so I did not keep it up, and then about 6 years ago started quilting again. And now I am a Fabri-holic! Sorry Shawna, did not mean to write a novel. :)
I faithfully follow your blog. Look daily to see what's up.
Of course I follow you on Facebook! And I really need to win Strawberry Fields, I am too broke to buy them! lol
I really need your help with my blog, it's almost non-existent.
I started sewing in second or third grade. My mom was my homeschool teacher, so we got an early education. I stopped in high school, and recently (a few years ago) started again.

When I got pregnant about 6 years ago, I got the nesting instinct bad! I even bought a pattern at Joanns to make a onesie (yes, I did!). That never panned out becasue I didn't know how to use a sewing machine, but after I had my daughter, I saw a LQS on my way home from work, signed up for a class, and never looked back. Now I have 3 daughters and have made tons of quilts, but never a onesie:)
I'm a follower! I just found your shop through A Stitch in Time's blog and bought some of the Wee Folks line. Your shop looks great!
I have been looking at the Strawberry Fields - they are so pretty. I started sewing and quilting when I was 9 - needless to say that was a loooooooooooong time ago.
I think I started sewing in junior high- made an apron in Home Ec class. Never stopped, but the quilting bug didn't hit until 4 1/2 years ago. Now I'm sewing all the time, dreaming about sewing, joining groups that sew, well, you know it, I'm addicted . And couldn't be more thrilled. Glad to find your blog and THANKS for the chance to win!!
I follow you now on my Google Reader. Thanks for such a great giveaway!!
I started to sew when I belonged to 4-H when I was 11 yrs. old. My mother has sewed since she was in high school so I had a very good teacher. My mom helped me cut out my projects and then she left me with her machine and I started to sew the projects (clothing) together. I have sewn my clothes from then on and when I started to have my children I made their clothes along with things for our home. (Oh, I won top ribbons on my entries to the county fair and I modeled my jumper that I made.) I started to quilt when I realized I had tons of scraps of fabric that I did not want to keep storing (and I couldn't throw them away, Ha!) I cut plain squares the same size and sewed them randomly together and then covered old blankets and tied the layers together. (These are still my families favorite "quilts"). The rest is history! I love all kinds of quilts but my favorites to make are scrappy quilts and the more diverse they are the better.
Thanks for reading my story and giving me the opportunity to win one of your prizes. My dream job would some day be to work for a company making quilts or working in a quilt shop helping other people learn the love of making a quilt!
I started sewing in Home Ec (I don't even remember what grade it was - 7 or 8, maybe? Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth!) - I remember mom taking me to the store to buy every notion that was listed on the sewing pattern, and the fabric to make a pair of baby doll pajamas, LOL. I hated Home Ec and I hated the teacher and all of her rules, but I sure did fall in love with sewing!
I think sewing is in the blood, both my grandmothers sewed and my mother did also. All of our special occasion clothes were made by my mother, to match what she made for herself. I took a sewing class in 7th grade I did things the way I was taught to at home. The teacher didn't like that very much. I started quilting when I saw a quilt in the window of a store and thought I can do that. It took a while but I can do that, I love it.;>
I'm a new follower. I thought I was a follower already, you were on my favorites list instead.;>
Well i was kinda forced into sewing at first by my neighbor. She has adopted our family and when I had my now 3 yr old daughter she started making clothes for her. And eventually she said to me, "I am going to teach you how to do this now." Not what I wanted to hear at the time, but I gave it a shot. Now I am the proud owner of a sewing machine and serger! And have grown from just making clothes for her to making quilts for the family! I have only made 5 to date, and am participating in a local BOM! Well my new found love of quilting has brought to the blogworld...to your door step!! Thanks!!

I hand sewed horrible looking things when I was in grade school. My aunt sold me an old sewing machine a few years ago an I didn't touch it until my sister insisted that I make throw pillows for a party about a year ago. I looked stuff up on the computer, took books from the library and I haven't stopped yet. It's so satisfying to actually create things that are useful and liked.
I started quilting in 1981, I needed something to keep my mind off of being an empty nester. Who knew it would be the all consuming love of my life it has become!

I started sewing when I was 6 years old. That summer I was visiting my Godmother(who is also my aunt) and I had my Barbie with me and decided she needed a pair of pants. My Aunt helped me make a pair of clamdigger's (showing my age) hand stitched. We made a drawstring waist using white cotton twine. That's how I got hooked. I should also say my Mom made lots of clothing for the 5 of use growing up. After that summer we sewed together and she helped me through numerous prom dresses and other projects. Both my Grandmother's sewed and drafted their own patterns also. I guess I guess it's just in the blood.

I started sewing about 1960 to get a Girl Scout badge. Used to make most of my clothes until the mid 70s. But I didn't start quilting until 2006, when my youngest sister (a longarm quilter) talked me & my 2 other sisters into doing a round robin. Now quilting is my life.
I was taught to hand sew (embroidery and cross-stitch) by my grandmother as a child. I didn't learn to use a machine until I was married and hubbie bought me one. He taught me because his mother and grandmother sewed. His great grandmother was a seamstress. I just started quilting last year.
I just became a follower. thanks for the giveaway.
I just "liked" you on Facebook. Great giveaway.
Lets see, Mom helped me make a quilt top in 6th grade, but it never got finished. I really started quilting in January 2008. Some friends were making a quilt to auction off at the church festival and I made a couple blocks to go in it.
I'm following too!
I started quilting in college - my mom started quilting and wanted me to help arrange her squares. All I could think was, "wow, mom is getting to be an old lady" but now, my stash of fabric is bigger than hers! it's been a fun thing to do together

I started quilting over 15 years ago. My husband went on a business trip for a week. I ended up at JoAnn's, and bought fabric to make a baby quilt and a copy of Ursula Reikes' Quilts for Baby. I never looked back!

I started sewing about four years ago by making purses and wallets sporadically. I ventured into the world of quilting about a year ago and it has taken over. I have a million projects going and my husband can't understand it. I just finished the back to my second quilt yesterday and am going to try my hand at free motion quilting for the first time. Wish me luck!!

Hi! I just found your blog through Linda of Stray Stitches...and am so happy that I did! All the women in my family are/were sewers...except me. I took Home Ec (that should give you an idea of my age! LOL!) and did great in the cooking part, but hated sewing. My teacher told me I was hopeless and would NEVER sew! And I never did...until about 8 years ago. One day I decided that I wanted to make a purse for myself as I liked the VB quilted handbags, but not the prices so much! I had inherited a sewing machine from my mother-in-law, so I sat down and just went at it. Had no idea what I was doing and, oh man, did I make some HUGE messes! But, I kept at it and finally figured it out and have been making handbags ever since. I have sold quite a lot of them, too! Who whould've thunk it - certainly not my Home Ec teacher! LOL!! In November of last year, I made my first quilt and am now addicted to that, too! I just love it!
Thanks so very much for your awesome give away and the change to win these beautiful fabrics....I've had my eye on them for a while now!
All the best,

I started sewing in 4-H. I never forget that it took me all summer to make an apron!
Int first quilt was when I was 17. I made a simple 9 patch for a church project. I loved that quilt and took it with me to college. It was actually stolen out of my car when I was around 20. I guess someone else liked it too.
I follow your blog now. Getting ready to go check out your store. I really do LOVE strawberry fields and I want some before it's all gone.

What an amazing giveaway! I started sewing when I was 5 or 6 years old, making doll clothes.

I started sewing in high school and my wonderful aunt taught me. She had been sewing for me since I was little. I started quilting about 25 years ago because I wanted to make a quilt for each of my daughters. Have been taking classes ever since and always trying to learn something new.
I learned how to sew in high school, and later, when my two daughters were born, I made a lot of their dresses. I took a quilting course about 15 years ago using the old-fashioned method with templates, etc. Then a friend showed me how to use a rotary cutter and I've never looked back. I love it. Especially picking out fabulous fabrics like the new Strawberry Fields
I've been a follower of yours for awhile and also receive your newsletter.
Hi,First of all thank you for your extremely generous giveaway . What gorgeous fabric. Well, my grandmother taught me how to sew, knit and crochet. She was an amazing lady with so much talent and patience. I always wanted to try quilting so I started checking out some amazing blogs and thought I would give it a go. I made my first quilt this year and loved every minute of it. Then I set up a blog page, joined Flickr and here I am. I have just joined a Skill Builder Sampler and I am enjoying learning new techniques.

I started sewing in 8th grade home ec class. I made myself a rockin' nightgown! amy @ gasudimack@sbcglobal.net
I don't remember a time when I didn't sew. I have always loved putting fabric together and I made most of my clothes by high school. I didn't start piecing quilts for serious until last year, but now I can't get enough.

My first sewing was those sewing cards of so long ago. I loved lacing those things while Mom would be sewing on her machine or knitting. Then, she gave me the cut off hems of her pants and I started to sew squares together..never got too far with anything, but I liked patchwork.

I'm pretty sure I like on fb...think I did that for a previous giveaway...:)
My sewing started early as I was a hyperactive child and my mom put me in front of the sewing machine to keep me busy. I loved the mechanics of it and had made a skirt all by myself when I was five years old. That was over 55 years ago!!
I started quilting about now 11 years. Im hooked on the needle, lol.
In my teen years I would never have thought thats what I like doing.
But here I am. I need to fondle fabric at least once a day. lol.

I started sewing a few years ago. I am a huge purse person, collecting whatever cute ones I find wherever I can find them. One day, my friend and I were at the craft store and I saw a pattern for a purse that I really wanted. My friend knows of my obsession and suggested that I try to make it for myself. I had never sewn before and was glad the pattern was for beginners because I still had a hard time with it. Of course, that could also be due to the fact I was working on it with a tiny machine I bought at Target for 30 bucks, not knowing that my sewing was going to turn into an obsession. Anyway, I've been sewing ever since and now design my own purses to make :)
I'm following your blog :)
I can't remember when I started sewing -- that was a loooong time ago. I started to get interested in quilting shortly after my eleven year old was born, and really took off with it about five years ago.
I first started sewing about 17 years ago. My sons wanted expensive Halloween costumes and Iu did not have the money for them, so I bought fabrics on clearance and made them by hand. The next year for my birthday, my Mom gave me my Granny's old Royal machine that she had serviced for me. I still have the Royal but don't use it very often because it only does one stitch!!!
I already follow, and love, your blog:)
I like you on FB, too:)
You have the best giveaways! I started sewing at about 10 -- making clothes and stuff. I started quilting in 2004.
My mom taught me how to hand-sew really young (5 or 6?). I have memories of sewing by hand my own versions of Barbie clothes. They were bad but they made me happy.

I started sewing as a little girl, raiding my mom's scrap box and cutting out and hand sewing little pillows and outfits for my dolls. It was a great way to start and began my love for fabrics!
I am now following you on twitter.
I was diagnosed with MS almost 20 years ago and I was very bored. Anyway to cut a long story short my very smart first neurologist told me to go to University here in the U.K. so for the next five years I did and got a degree in computer science. Then I was bored again and I picked up a cross stitch kit in one or our large department stores. I did this for the next 15 years and then got bored with it but by this time I had begun collecting, and falling in love with, fabrics to finish the smalls that I was now making. So about 18 months ago I decided I really wanted to learn to quilt so I went to a fairly local store to learn but the class was too big and the people too tall and I couldn't see and couldn't remember so I gave up for a year and then found so much stuff on YouTube that I was away again and I love it. So my quilting stash will grow to be bigger than my cross stitch stash ever was because there are so many fabrics I love. Thank you so much for hosting yet another great giveaway.

I started sewing as a teenager. I used my Mom's old pedal Singer and it made for a beautiful seam. Then I got my own Singer Featherweight and made clothes for myself and my 3 daughters when they were little, even winter coats. I loved sewing. Whenever my husband was overseas (a career Marine who served twice in Vietnam, among other places), I would put the girls to bed and work on the sewing for a peaceful end to the day. I have continued, but with newer machines (Bernina's) and I love to quilt. It is a relaxing, calming thing for me and I will do it as long as I can.

I started quilting when I was about 10. I was inspired by Laura's 9 patch in the Little House on the Praire books. I made and tied a little 12 inch 9 patch doll quilt - and then didn't quilt until I was 25. :)

I started quilting when I was 15, I started with a way cute rag quilt I saw at a new local quilt shop. I spent $123 of my own money and took a class. After about 10 other rag quilts I moved on to piecing and free motion quilting and it went up from there!

I first started sewing Barbie clothes on mum's deadly treadly sewing machine. I then stopped sewing until the 3 greeblies (daughters) arrived and I sewed their clothes, made curtains, pillow shams etc. Even sewed hubbie some shirts!! Then I discovered quilting. I am in heaven. I love fabric, (looking and petting, quilting books (have heaps) and I love piecing and the actual quilting. It is my sanity in a sometimes crazy world. I am very lucky that I have a very supportive family - including the Hubbie!! I taught myself quilting thanks to the internet and all the wonderful blogs I have discovered. Thank you to all out there. Thank you Shawna for the great giveaway. Cheers, Dianne
I started sewing when I was very small, and made myself a dress for the first time when I was 10! I've sewn for sew long, and I love it.

I've always liked sewing and make a lot of my own clothes when I was a teenager. I made clothes for all of my children when they were small but have stopped sewing so much when they were older and I was working more. Recently I have started again, dress making and various sewing crafts. I love getting back into it and finding all sorts of interesting and creative crafters on the internet.
I started quilting about ten years ago, but I have been sewing since I was six years old.

Have a great weekend!
I actually got addicted when my husband's grandmother (90) showed me some of her hand quilted projects that she had finished and unfinished. I searched quite a while online and got close to the pattern of one of the quilts that she hadn't finished and couldn't remember how she did sewed it. It was then that I saw all the possibilities!Hooked ever since. I have always loved arts and crafts and used them all through my life, but quilting has me by the ear...
I also have put your giveaway on my small blog.. http://grannyanne-mysmallspace.blogspot.com/2011/06/giveaway.html
Nothing fancy there as I am rather new to this !
I am also a follower but do not tweet
I first began quilting 14 years ago when I was asked to contribute a block for a sampler quilt. I didn't have a clue what I was doing but it had me hooked from the start.

And I have LIKED you on Facebook.
Thank you for all the chances to win!
Love the fabric give away ;o)
I started sewing clothing with my mom at about 8 years old. I remember making Barbie "tube" dresses the most with my mom's scraps.
I am a new follower now. kristie
I've been coveting this fabric line so much lately!
My mom tried to teach me to sew when I was young, but I wasn't the most teachable, unfortunately. I finally got serious about sewing about a year and a half ago. Now I wish I had paid more attention way back when, but luckily my mom lives right around the corner in case I have any problems or questions!

I "like" you on FB!
I just subscribed too.
Despite having had a mother who was a wonderful seamstress, I was never patient enough. I'm sure it's not unrelated that I began quilting shortly after she died. I think of her every time I sit down in front of my sewing machine.

I learnt to sew at senior school from a harridon called Mrs Jeffries. I don't remember much about her lessons, but I could still sew 20 years later when I took it up again. I started a hand pieced hexie quilt when I was about 10 but I'm ashamed to say I never finished it and it must've been thrown away at some stage.
